Group accountants: supporting companies with financial expertise
The tasks of group accountants are varied and highly demanding. Group accountants work in the accounting departments of companies and are responsible for consolidation processes and financial statements of various subsidiaries. They have to apply a wide variety of evaluation and consolidation methods and to deal with issues related to accounting policy. Depending on their experience, they work as junior or senior group accountants.
Which opportunities do group accountants have on the labour market?
Group accountants with an academic degree in economics and/or a balance sheet accountant's qualification have good prospects on the job market. Several years of professional experience at an auditing or tax consulting company or in the consolidation area of an industrial company is an advantage. Excellent knowledge of IFRS, the German Commercial Code (HGB) and MS Office as well as fluent oral and writing skills in English also further increase their chances.
